Dr. Firas Bou Daher, University of Minnesota, presents "Coordination of Auxin, Cell Wall, and Cytoskeleton in Early Seedling Development for Successful Plant Establishment".

Dr. Firas Bou Daher’s research career has been driven by a passion for understanding the biomechanics of plant development. His academic journey began with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Lebanon, followed by a master’s degree in Horticultural Genetics from Greece. He then earned a PhD in Biology from the University of Montreal, where he conducted research on pollen tube growth under the supervision of Professor Anja Geitmann.

After completing his PhD, Firas expanded his expertise through a year in Professor Jaideep Mathur’s lab, focusing on advanced confocal microscopy techniques. He later joined Professor Shiobhan Braybrook's group at both Cambridge and UCLA, investigating the mechanical properties of hypocotyl development. Currently, Firas is working with Professor William Gray at the University of Minnesota, studying the impact of the plant hormone auxin on cell wall dynamics and plant biomechanics during early seedling development.
