Creativity and Commitment: Fellows to Present on Efforts to Foster Diversity and Inclusivity

In the College of Biological Sciences, principles of diversity, equity and inclusion are guiding principles. As such, an array of special DEI-related programs led by graduate students, each of whom was awarded a Graduate DEIJ Leader Fellowship for the 2022-23 academic year, will culminate in an open house event highlighting their achievements from 1:00-3:00pm on June 8, in Walker Hall. 

DEI Graduate Student Advisor to CBS Dean Reflects on Positive Impact, Successors, Moving on to Stanford University

For the past two years, Population Biology Ph.D. Candidate Victoria Watson-Zink hasn’t solely spent her time at the UC Davis College of Biological Sciences studying the intricacies of land crab genetics. When she wasn’t in the lab, conducting fieldwork or teaching classes, Watson-Zink, a first-generation college student, dedicated her time to making the college a more welcoming and equitable place for its underrepresented students.

As Black History Month draws to a close, we celebrate and reflect on the many outstanding achievements and contributions Black Americans have made to our state, our nation and to the world at large.

Professors Crystal Rogers and Wilsaan Joiner Respond to Ongoing Injustices Against Black Americans

The recent murders of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, David McAtee, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others have sent shock waves throughout the country. In a recent interview, UC Davis professors Dr. Crystal Rogers and Dr. Wilsaan Joiner offered their thoughts, feelings, and recommendations for ways UC Davis can support our Black community members during these scary and uncertain times.
